Dream on Wheels Seekers, Innovators and Achievers celebrates the California Dream, in which the automobile played so large a part in the postwar boom. A drive-in restaurant sign, jukebox, and gleaming hot-rod capture the feel of the 1950s.
$ Oceanfront Parks Lincoln Park, Land s End, and Sutro Heights Park are large green areas that overlook and hug the coast all along this northwestern corner of the peninsula. St. Mary s Cathedral Critics abound who are ready to dismiss this parabolic form, but the soaring curves take the attention upward, in much the same fashion that tracery and peaked vaulting do in Gothic cathedrals (see p44).
